Italy: strong industrial nation

The Italian manufacturing industry has 23,000 companies and 470,000 employees. The mechanical engineering industry generates added value of 48.4 billion euros. In November 2023, the German Chancellor and the Italian Prime Minister signed an action plan in Berlin for increased cooperation between Germany and Italy in the areas of business, energy, space and defense.

Italy-Germany trade exchange – high level with a glimpse of recovery

 

In 2024, German-Italian interchange recorded a
a value of 156 billion euros. Germany remains the top trading partner for Italy followed by China, France and the US. Italy and Germany account for 42.5 percent of total EU exports to the US.

Industry 4.0 and 5.0 are drivers of innovation

 

Companies that have invested in Industry 4.0 perform better. In 2024, the incentives of the PNRR and the Industry 5.0 plan will boost the introduction of new production technologies, the reduction of energy consumption and M&A opportunities.
